Recharge Cards
Overview
Recharge Cards are prepaid vouchers containing unique scratch codes that customers use to purchase internet packages or top up their account balance. ISPBills supports both printed physical cards (distributed through retail points) and digital cards (sold online through the card distributor portal).
Recharge cards provide a flexible, cash-based distribution model — ideal for ISPs whose customers prefer to pay at local shops rather than through online banking.
Card Generation
Before any recharge card can be sold — whether physically or digitally — it must be generated in ISPBills. At generation time, the commission for the card distributor is defined.
Important: If no card is generated for a card distributor, the distributor cannot sell any cards online, because the commission amount must be set at the time of card generation.
Steps to Generate Recharge Cards
- Navigate to Recharge Card > Recharge Cards.
- Click "New Card" or "Generate Cards".
- Fill in the following fields:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Package | The internet package this card activates |
| Card Distributor | Which distributor these cards belong to |
| Card Value / Denomination | The face value of the card (amount credited or package activated) |
| Commission | The commission the distributor earns per card sold (percentage or fixed amount) |
| Quantity | Number of unique cards to generate in this batch |
- Click Generate. ISPBills creates the specified number of unique scratch codes.
Card States
Each recharge card moves through the following states:
| State | Description |
|---|---|
| Unissued | Generated but not yet given to a distributor |
| Issued | Assigned to a distributor's inventory |
| Used | Redeemed by a customer |
| Expired | Past the expiry date without being redeemed |
How Customers Use a Recharge Card
Through the Customer Self-Service Portal
- Customer logs in to the customer portal.
- Navigates to Recharge / Buy Package.
- Enters the unique scratch code from the card.
- The system validates the code and applies the package or balance to the customer's account.
Through a Card Distributor
- Customer visits the distributor's shop or contacts the distributor.
- The distributor logs in to the Card Distributor Portal.
- The distributor enters the scratch code and selects the customer account to apply it to.
- The package or balance is activated on the customer's account immediately.
Printing Cards for Physical Distribution
After generating a batch of cards, you can:
- Download as PDF — print-ready card layout with scratch codes, card values, and your ISP branding (if configured).
- Download as Excel / CSV — for record-keeping or mail-merge printing.
Print the cards and distribute them to your card distributors or retail points for physical sale.
Digital Card Sales
Card distributors with portal access can sell cards digitally without needing physical printouts:
- The distributor logs in to the card distributor portal.
- They view their available card inventory (the cards generated and assigned to their account).
- When a customer purchases, the distributor selects the appropriate card and applies it to the customer's account in real time.
Commission Tracking
Each card batch has a defined commission rate. ISPBills tracks:
- Total cards generated per distributor.
- Cards sold (used) vs. unsold.
- Total commissions earned by the distributor based on cards sold.
Commission records feed into the Distributor Payments reconciliation process. See Distributor Payments for details.
