VAT
Overview
If your ISP operates in a country or region where Value Added Tax (VAT) is applicable to internet services, ISPBills allows you to define VAT profiles and apply them to packages or billing profiles. When VAT is configured, it is automatically included in customer invoices and tracked separately so you can report on VAT collected for tax purposes.
Creating a VAT Profile
A VAT profile defines a named tax rate that can be reused across multiple packages.
- Navigate to Settings → VAT (or Settings → Tax).
- Click Add VAT Profile.
- Fill in the following fields:
- Name — A descriptive label for this tax rate (e.g. "Standard VAT 15%", "Reduced Rate 5%").
- Percentage — The tax rate as a percentage (e.g. enter
15for 15%).
- Click Save. The VAT profile is now available for assignment.
You can create multiple VAT profiles for different rates if your tax structure requires it.
Assigning VAT to Packages or Billing Profiles
Once created, a VAT profile is assigned at the package or billing profile level.
Assigning to a Package
- Navigate to Packages and open the package you want to modify.
- In the package edit form, locate the VAT Profile dropdown.
- Select the appropriate VAT profile.
- Save the package.
All invoices generated for customers on this package will now include the VAT amount as a separate line item.
Assigning to a Billing Profile
- Navigate to Billing Profiles and open the profile to edit.
- Select the VAT Profile field and choose the applicable rate.
- Save the billing profile.
VAT on Customer Invoices
When a VAT profile is assigned, customer invoices will show:
- Base amount — The package price before VAT.
- VAT amount — The calculated VAT based on the profile percentage.
- Total amount — The sum of base amount and VAT.
VAT Collection Reports
To view how much VAT has been collected over a period:
- Navigate to Reports → VAT Report (or Settings → VAT → VAT Report).
- Select a date range.
- The report shows the total VAT collected, broken down by period or operator as needed.
This report is useful for preparing tax filings and ensuring the correct amount is remitted to the tax authority.
