Network & Outside Plant
Inspect the geographic router, OLT, ONU, switch, and access-path inventory and resolve plant data-quality exceptions.
Network & Outside Plant
Network & Outside Plant is the geographic inventory of routers, OLTs, ONUs, switches, and access paths.
Open Insights → Maps → Outside Plant.
Layers and status
| Layer | Contents |
|---|---|
| Routers | NAS/core/access router locations and reachability |
| OLTs | Optical headend locations and status |
| ONUs | Optical endpoints, signal, distance, and parent OLT |
| Access paths | OLT/router and ONU/OLT geographic lines |
Toggle individual layers to reduce map clutter. Select an asset to inspect its identifier, state, signal, parent equipment, and coordinate quality. The exception table prioritizes offline ONUs, low optical levels, and assets using estimated rather than verified coordinates.
Equipment without coordinates may be displayed at its parent OLT or group location as an estimate. Assign real coordinates before using the map for dispatch, route measurement, or field maintenance.
Use Custom Map Editor when you need to add passive assets such as splitters, cabinets, poles, splice closures, and manually documented fiber routes.
Clean up plant data
- Review Missing locations and the exception table.
- Select an estimated asset and identify the underlying Router, OLT, or ONU record.
- Add verified coordinates on that record's edit page.
- For low-signal ONUs, verify Rx level, connectors, bends, splitter loss, and distance.
- Refresh the map and confirm the exception has cleared.
A line drawn from a fallback coordinate is not proof of the installed cable route. Use Custom Map Editor or a field survey to document the actual outside-plant path.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Resolution |
|---|---|
| Many ONUs overlap an OLT | Their own coordinates are missing; add ONU/customer installation coordinates. |
| OLT has no router line | Assign the OLT's NAS/Core Router and ensure both have coordinates. |
| Signal is blank | Synchronize the OLT/ONU and verify vendor SNMP support. |
| An asset appears in the wrong operator area | Correct its operator assignment and coordinates. |
